"WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN", CORD TELLS UHURU

The Coalition of Reforms and Democracy (CORD) will lead a mass protest on “saba saba” day if the government will not adhere to their call for a national dialogue.
Speaking at Muliro Garden in Kakamega County on Saturday, CORD leader Raila Odinga said that he is not afraid to fight for suffering Kenyans and that the Government has no option but to dialogue with his coalition.
“The Government must know that, I am not afraid of the arrest or being jailed for the interest of Kenyans,” Odinga said.
Reacting to a move by the Director of Public prosecutions, Keriako Tobiko, Who has accused nine CORD leaders for hate speech, Raila said intimidation will not stop them.
He also warned President Uhuru Kenyatta against taking the nation back to the dark era, where there was no freedom of speech.
“Speaking the truth is not hate speech. The president should not take us back to the Nyayo era where there was no freedom of speech. Arresting people will not help solve anything, others have tried it and it did not work.”He said.
The CORD leader, accompanied by 20 Cord MP’s, Said that most of the problems faced by Kenyans today were as a result of historical injustices. He therefore called upon the government to immediately implement The Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Report.
The former prime minister has also distanced himself from claims by Jubilee Mp’s that he wants to shave the president. Instead he says his statement was misinterpreted for he meant no harm to anyone.
“Mimi si kinyozi na Sitaki kunyoa mtu yeyote.” (I am not a barber and I don’t want to shave anyone).
Jakoyo Midiwo, who is among the nine Cord leaders accused of hate speech and who has already recorded his statement, said the DPP should use proper channels in summoning leaders and not the media.
He also warned senate majority Kithure Kindiki and Majority leader of National Assembly Aden Duale that CORD leaders Raila, Wetangula and Kalonzo are not their equal and should give them respect.
Senate leader Moses Wetangula called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to hear the cries of Kenyans and to stop blaming CORD leaders for crimes they have not done.
“We are not the opposition we are the alternative government, when we talk we are the voice of kenyans. We are calling upon the government to hear the people’s voice.  The people of this nation want their problems solved.” He said.
Wetangula also noted that the jubilee government has failed in its leadership and it was time for the people to take action. As the window for dialogue is closing fast giving Kenyans no option but to stand as one on July 7th.
He further added that CORD was not responsible for the blood of innocent Kenyans shed in Mpeketoni. Terming the attack as a clear indication that Jubilee has failed in protecting citizens.
“Intelligence reports from United states of America, France and Britain say Al-shabaab is responsible for the attack. Al-Shabaab has also claimed responsibility for the same. How comes the president is saying otherwise. Where is his intelligence coming from?”
In support of Raila and Wetangula’s remarks, James Orengo urged the government to give evidence to their claims that violence experienced in some parts of the country was political. He said arresting leaders does not scare people but gives them strength to fight for what is just.
CORD leaders cited ethnicity in public appointments, insecurity, high cost of living, corruption and youth unemployment as some of the issues that need to be solved, adding that nobody should be arrested for speaking the truth.

BOY SLIPS PAST SECURITY TO CALL RAILA "BABA"

If the events of the recent past are anything to by then I can say children know how to make the best out of everything.
First it happened to Pope Francis, it was a day to celebrate families but one little boy took it a bit further and managed to steal the show when he got on stage with pope.
The pontiff was addressing a crowd of families at the Vatican when the youngstar wandered on stage and sat on the pope’s seat.
Well it is not only in Vatican, Kenya is not left behind in this “making the most of everything style”.
A young boy, slipped past security guards to get upclose with Cord leader Raila odinga in Kakamega during a political rally.
Although he did not get too close to Raila Odinga. His mission was accomplished since Raila heard what he was saying, shouting the word “Baba”- Swahili for father. Unlike the rest of the people who had turned up for the rally and screamed the same word while concealed in a crowd.

STRETCH THE RUBBER BAND YOU ARE

Rubber bands come in different sizes, shape and colours. Red, blue or green, you name it and you will surely have one. However no matter the brand, colour or size rubber bands operate under the same principle. They all have to be stretched to be effective.

Like rubber bands, our talents, gifts and personality are different. One thing is common in us all though; just like rubber bands we have to be stretched to be effective in life.
Every person who has ever achieved something has stretched for it. There is no such thing as a person who comes into the world fully equipped for success. Every person who has made it to the top has learned to stretch at one point in their lives.
Just like a rubber band it has to stretch to be enough for the occasion. The most effective way for us to overcome our problems is to change the person. The human spirit is capable of great resiliency and resourcefulness in the face of hardship. It is not problems that mess us up. It is the fear to stretch that does. It is therefore upon us to change from “I can’t believers to “I can do it if I work harder believers”.
Someone once said, “Cripple a man and you will have Sir Walter Scott. Lock him in prison for 27 years and you will have Nelson Mandela. Raise him in poverty and you have Abraham Lincoln. Deafen him and you will have Ludwing Van Beethhoven. Call him a slow learner, retarded, and write him off as uneducatable and you have Albert Eistein.” All of these people had to change from being common to extraordinary. How did they do that exactly? There you are, you guessed it right, they had to stretch their ability to achieve what they did. They did not let people’s opinion take their valid dreams down the drain. Your dream is valid too, so stop dillydallying and start stretching.
One of the most common mistakes and one of the costliest is thinking that success is due to some genius, some magic or some other thing that we do not posses. Success is due to our stretching to the challenges of life. Failure comes when we shrink from them. We shouldn’t be intimidated with what we do not have but be bold enough to use what we have to get what we do not have.
Those who stretch will also find themselves vulnerable to criticism. Unfortunately the road to success is paved with critics. They are ready and waiting to point out how imperfectly other people do what they themselves are unable to do. No need to worry about them for it is all a win-win situation for you.
When a rubber band is pulled taut, it’s much easy to break. No wonder not many people like to stretch the rubber band they are.  They think they won’t survive the tension forgetting that stretching reveals their weaknesses. As we all know the strongest man is he who knows his weakness. Knowing your weakness makes you full aware of what to do and what not to. It brings an understanding of oneself. And there is nothing more important than knowing who you are.
