VARSITY TO HOST PUBLIC PARLIAMENTARY LECTURE

In a bid to promote good governance and democracy, a public university will be hosting the second edition of public parliamentary lecture in the country.
The lecture which will be tackling “Devolution and the role the Parliament has played” is scheduled to take place on 28th November 2014 from 10:00 A.M at Masinde Muliro University grounds.
The Public lecture is a community outreach event organized by the Parliament and is expected to provide an open platform for the public community to interact with the elected leaders without the official formalities.
The  panel of discussants  will comprise Bungoma County Senator Hon. Moses Wetangula, Kakamega County Senator Hon Bonny Khalwale, Hon. Mutaha Kangu, Speakers Kakamega County Hon. Morris Buluma, , Ekwe Eturo of Senate and Justin Muturi of the National Assembly.
According to the Parliamentary Service Commission led by Prof. Nyokabi Kamau, the Director Centre for Parliamentary Studies, the event will be an ideal opportunity to involve people in a deliberate way.
“ We expect this event to attract a lot of people particularly students, members of the academia, members of the public, members of the Count Assembly and anyone else who would like to engage on a discussion about devolution,” said Prof. Nyokabi Kamau.
A member of Management Dr. Judah Ndiku thanked the Parliament for considering partnering with the University.
He reiterated the important role Parliament plays in implementation of the new Constitution. He said this will be an opening not only for parliament but also for the University to interact with the community.
The Public lecture will be covered live on National Television and will end with an exciting match at Bukhungu stadium.
The match will involve the National Parliament team against a combined team of Members of the Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma and Vihiga county assemblies.
