FISHERMEN TO WAIT THREE YEARS FOR NEW DEPOTS

Fishermen in Kilifi county will have to wait for three years for new depots to be operational. The Agriculture,Livestock and Fisheries executive has said.
The depots are set to benefit about 10,000 fishermen in the county. They will be constructed in Mtwapa, Uyombo, Marereni and Watamu.
According to Mwalimu katana Menza the sh40 million depots will eliminate exploitation by middle men tthat offer low prices to fishermen because they lack preservation equipment and will be ready after three years.
The County harvests about two million tonnes of fish a year.
