MOMBASA IS SAFE FOR TOURIST

Tourists visiting the coastal city of Mombasa have no need to worry about their safety. The commandant of the Tourist Police Unit (TPU) in the County has said.
Speaking to journalist at Royal court hotel in Mombasa, the commandant, Sichirani Wilberforce said that they were working in collaboration with all police units in the area in making sure that there is tight security.
“We would like to send a message to the whole world that Mombasa is safe and tourists should not fear coming to Mombasa. We have joined forces with the County government and all police units in the coastal region; and we will be receiving more personnel.” Said Sichirani
The commandant’s sentiments were echoed by the County Executive in charge of Tourism and Development, Job Tumbo.
Mr. Tumbo added that the county government cannot achieve its goals alone not unless all stake holders play their role.
“Everybody has a role to play. We have to be responsible in what we do in order to achieve our goals as a County government.” Said Tumbo
He further added that there is need for everyone to join forces with the county government in restoring the county as a tourist destination.
However the Tourist Police Unit commandant, Sichirani, called upon citizens to be vigilant. He added that they should help the police with information about suspicious activities happening in their vicinity. This will enable proper measure to be undertaken on time.
They were speaking during the unveiling of Mombasa hotel show. The annual three day event will be held at wild waters, Nyali from 13-15 November this year.
The event organized by Slujan events will offer an opportunity for the business community in learning more about business trends, their needs, how to close business deals and increase their client base in the coast region
