Two days after the massacre of over 140 university students in Garissa, Masinde Muliro University students will be lighting candles in remembrance of their fallen comrades.
Two days after the massacre of over 140 university students in Garissa, Masinde Muliro University students will be lighting candles in remembrance of their fallen comrades.
The event organized by Peace Ambassadors Kenya (Mmust chapter)
pegged on the theme "stop the madness, Respect human rights" aims at enhancing
unity among the students.
"No matter how hard terrorist will want to divide
us on religion grounds we are all Kenyan citizens and as one we stand against anything
that doesn’t guarantee peace" says Bill Clinton the outgoing student governing
council chairman.
Same stand was echoed by Mark Kaoga the just crowned Mr
Mmust, who bore the idea of the event.
The candle lighting ceremony will be held at 3.00pm outside
the university library. Students are expected to carry a candle and dress in red
or white to symbolize the blood brutally shade and peace needed to unite all
Kenyans at this trying moments.
This comes shortly after UON student’s leader Babu
Owino issued a statement to the government. Calling upon it to compensate for
the lives lost in Garissa or else a mass action will be taken by University
students.
